Our Very Own Master Chef Junior
My oldest daughter challenged her little sisters to a Chopped/Master Chef Jr competition. They had to use clementines, dates, and toasted coconut to create "unique, creative, and delicious snacks." They then explained their dish while she tasted and critiqued. What a creative way for her to get little sisters to make her food. I'm impressed #kids #kidsinthekitchen #daughters #masterchefjunior #healthysnacks #glutenfree #paleo

Empowering Kids in the Kitchen
Spring Break means our daughters are fortunate to spend a lot of time with (both sets) the grandparents! It warms my heart to see the photos that my mom-in-law sent me of the girlies in the kitchen--the oldest (who has a love of desserts) making the family recipe of caramel, and the two youngest preparing a fruit salad for today's brunch. Not only do I love seeing them enjoy their time together, but I appreciate that our parents are empowering our daughters and giving them th

Snow Day Pancakes
Another ❄️snowday ❄️ which means another day to keep the monkeys occupied and helping in the kitchen. They asked for pancakes, and pancakes they shall make: gluten free and Paleoish pancakes made with coconut flour, eggs, organic whole milk, and honey (to see the recipe I adapted from, go to nourishingdays.com). These pancakes go perfectly with Kerrygold grassfed butter and maple syrup or raw honey. The smoothie is made with frozen organic berries, organic spinach, hemp heart

Gluten Free Mac N Cheese--with the help of my little sous chefs
Gluten free and somewhat paleoish version of a well-loved comfort food: Mac N Cheese. Using this small list of simple ingredients: Kerrygold butter to sauté onions, gluten free & non-GMO brown rice pasta, and raw milk cheese (this is a fave we buy at trader joes), and applewood bacon to add to pasta once it's done (with added butter as needed). Salt and pepper, and call it a day. My two little ones wanted to help prepare our GF Mac N Cheese--little asked if she could put the

Getting my Girls Involved in Making Lunches
While we were trying to keep busy indoors during yesterday's snow day, my girlies put together their lunch for today. Not too bad, eh? In our Easy Lunchboxes, from left to right, oldest to youngest daughter, mini non-GMO cucumbers, rapes, egg muffins (made with organic, cage free eggs, onions sautéed in @kerrygoldusa butter, bacon, and broccoli), clementine, Tillamook cheese, and Elana's Pantry paleo chocolate cupcakes. I prepared the egg muffins and cupcakes on Sunday Prep

Girlies in the Kitchen
My two youngest daughters wanted to make their own omelets for lunch. Eating their creations with a knife and fork only seemed like the proper way to have their tasty creations. P.S. Kids are much more likely to eat the foods they make;) #omelets #eggs #kidsinthekitchen #paleo

Meal Planning With The Kiddos
Today my middle and youngest daughters looked through Paleo Parents' book, "Eat Like A Dinosaur," and helped me with this week's meal planning. I LOVE having my kiddos helping me in the kitchen! The more involved kids are in meal planning, shopping, and prepping, the likelier they are to sample (and eventually enjoy) the food! #kidsinthekitchen #kids #familyfriendly #mealplanning #myfamilymyeverything

Baked Apples
Oh my! I wish the internt had a scratch and smell option because these baked apples I just took out of the oven smell insanely good! They're also an adaptation of one of the recipes I share in my Fall Detox!!
•4 apples, cut in half (remove core and seeds)
•4 tbsp coconut oil
•1 cup gluten free oats
•1 tsp pure vanilla extract
•1 tsp apple pie spice
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the apples to a baking sheet, cut side up. In a separate bowl, add coco

Love my little kitchen helper <3
Making banana bread this morning from the book, Against All Grain. Love having a little helper in the kitchen!
By the way, involving kids (and selective eaters) with food preparation makes it much more likely that they'll taste (and even love) what they prepared;) #kids #againstallgrain #kidsinthekitchen

...and that's a wrap (doesn't get any easier than this meal, appetizer, or snack idea)
My little chef serving the leftover shredded roast beef in lettuce wraps that she prepared for her sisters and herself:) #simplelettucewraps #snack #glutenfree #kidsinthekitchen #dinner #appetizers #lunch #schoollunch
